The History of SIGA started with the
founding of the NGO in
Moyamba in 1989 by Dr. Harry Will. In 1991 Dr. Will was joined by other
experienced professional in development work including Dr. Raymond S. Kamara
(Current Board Chairman), Dr Olu Williams (Late), Mr. S. A Kawa, Mr. H. M. N.
Swaray, Mrs Lauretta Will, Mr. J. S. Bangura, Mr. Septimus Bonodick; this was
followed by the founding and registration of the Siera Agricultural and
Technical Services(SATS), the partner Consultancy Firm1991.
With the full registration of SATS Consultancy and the start of
operation, SIGA, the Non Governmental Organization, started to receive
institutional support from earnings of SATS and thus the NGO activities
which started in 1989 expanded and started to deliver effective grass-roots
community support first in Moyamba district and then during the war years, to
Freetown; Port Loko and Tonkolili and other parts of the country.
The original and effective Directors of SATS were: Dr.
Raymond Kamara as Chairman and Dr. Harry Will who was Managing
Director (1991 -1996).Other Board Members who made significant
contribution to the setting up of the Firm are Mrs. Lauretta Sillah( now Dr.
Lauretta Will) and Mr. Septimus Bonodick .Mr. S.A. Kawa took over from Dr.
Harry Will as Managing Director (1996 -2000). Other members of the Board are
Mr. H.M.N. Swaray and Mr. J.S. Bangura

made Significant contribution to SIGA’s development include Mr. Vidal Roberts
(Current Executive Director); Mr. Michael Sesay (Director of Administration and
Finance) and Mrs. Gladys Conteh(Admin Assistant) who have managed SIGA since
